Mariesha Thompson

My name is Mariesha Thompson.  I am a senior Library and Information Science major at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.  I am scheduled to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in December 2014.  After graduating, I hope to work in my field of study while pursuing my Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.  Although, I am currently not working at a library, I would love to work in an academic library once I have the required credentials.  

 

Choosing a career in Library Science was easy.  I am very passionate about books and reading.  Libraries have always been the place to go for peace, and libraries make me so happy!  I have always wanted to share my love of books with other people, and I feel that as a librarian, I will always have the opportunity to do so.  I want to change any stereotypes that have been placed on libraries and librarians. My goal is to show my patrons that libraries are cool, and reading is fun. They just have to allow the stories they are reading to take them places, and help them grow.
